Panoramic X-Ray is a method which helps the dentist to diagnose the problems in teeth or gum. For example, X-Ray pictures can show cavities, hidden dental structures (such as wisdom teeth), and bone loss that cannot be seen during a visual examination. Also, these X-Rays do Show problems such as impacted teeth, bone anormalities, cysts, tumors, infections and fractures.
The amount of radiation used in dental X-Rays is low. For that reason, it is not problem for a child to have a panoramic X-Ray. On the contary, the risk of damage from the X-Rays is usually very low when compared with the potential benefits of the test.
